First season for Anthony Haralambous
1. This season has been your first playing competitive futsal, how have you found playing for Manchester Futsal Club?

I have really enjoyed playing for Manchester Futsal Club this season. A friend recommended the club to me so I signed up for the trials. I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the club has a very professional outlook and know’s where it wants to be in the years ahead. The staff and coaches are dedicated in trying to make Manchester Futsal Club one of the leading clubs in England.

2. What have been your personal targets for the season?

This season I personally needed to familiarize myself with the technical and physical demands of futsal. I wanted to get my own game to a high standard as well as helping the team progress from last season.

3. What have you learnt most about the game of futsal?

I’ve learnt a lot about futsal this season considering it was a game I’d seen but never played before. I had no understanding of the game when I started but thanks to the tuition and guidance I’m receiving from the coaching staff I’m starting to feel like I’m getting to grips with it. I’ve always played a lot of five a-side but futsal is far more tactical, much more of a team game.

4. How have the club supported your development as a futsal player?

The club has massively helped my development as a player this season. The fact that we have 2 or 3 coaching sessions a week with an insightful coach there’s always been the chance to discuss everything which is massively important when you are dedicating yourself to a new sport. All the boys have supported me and been ready to give me help when I’ve needed it.

5. Are you looking forward to the Umbro International Futsal Cup?

I can’t wait for the Umbro tournament. I’m really looking forward to my first proper futsal tournament. We were all massively disappointed at missing out on the FA Futsal cup and see this as a chance to make amends. As well as that there are some international teams from all over the world coming and I’m looking forward to testing myself against them.

6. Tell us about meeting Falcao and how that came to happen?

I had the pleasure of meeting Falcao last year. I went to Brazil on holiday and through a friend met another Brazilian international called Leco. He invited us to come watch Malwee play, the team he and Falcao play for. It was fantastic, such a high standard and both Leco and Falcao were amazing. After the game I got introduced to Falcao and Leco gave me a shirt. The whole experience was again another reason for pursuing my interest in taking up futsal and joining Manchester Futsal Club.

7. What does the future hold for yourself and Manchester Futsal Club?

Hopefully the future holds big things for myself and Manchester Futsal club. Personally, I want to keep improving as a player as I feel like I’ve still got a lot to learn and a long way to go as yet. As for the club, though the seasons not over, we’ve definitely not done ourselves justice. I’m certain we’ll learn from our mistakes and come back better and stronger for next season.
