Manchester head to Loughborough this weekend in a game where both sides will be looking to pick up their first points of the FA National Futsal Super League campaign.
The North champions succumbed to a 2-1 defeat in the opening Group ‘A’ fixture against Baltic, while Loughborough were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Helvecia.
Last time the teams met, MFC ran out convincing 6-1 winners in the FA Futsal Cup semi-final at the Copper Box in June, having narrowly overcome the same opposition 5-4 a month earlier in the Super League semi-final.
England international Will Rooke will the one to watch for Manchester on Sunday as his 18 goals this campaign helped fire the Midlands side to a second place finish.
It turned out to be quite a disappointing title challenge for Loughborough, who finished twelve points behind Birmingham and finished the season with three straight defeats.
Add the loss to Helvecia three weeks ago to the equation and the Midlanders are going through a poor run of form, and will face a Manchester side who are full of confidence after securing a place at the FA Futsal Cup finals.
MFC thrashed Bristol 12-4 to qualify from Group ‘3’ a fortnight ago, and have been drawn in a favourable group containing London Zappsport, Birmingham Tigers and FC Salisbury.
It was a much needed, morale-boosting win for Manchester, who had come off the back of two straight defeats against Baku and Baltic in the space of a few days.
Victory for Manchester this weekend will put them in the race for qualification from the group. However, anything but three points could see them cut adrift from the leaders despite having eight more games to play.
