Head Coach Chris Vernon is in a confident mood ahead of this afternoon’s FA Futsal Cup clash with Sussex in Eastbourne.
Speaking to manchesterfutsal.com ahead of the game, Vernon stated that although it won’t be an easy game, he’s expecting his players to seal the result.
He said: “I’m excited to see a Southern team that we haven’t seen before. We don’t really know too much about them.
“They’ve won the Second Division recently so it’s not going to be an easy game. The players need to be up for a big test.”
“We’ve got to expect the unexpected. That’s my plan going there, we can’t take it for granted that they’re a Second Division team.
“We’ve got to go there with a plan that we’ve taken from training and stick with it.
Vernon continued: “I’m confident in the group of players that we’ve got travelling to seal the win.
“Without sounding arrogant, we’re playing against a Second Division side and we’re expected to beat them.
“We’ve got a lot of experienced players travelling down there and they should be able to deliver.”
A potential home tie against Liverpool awaits in the next round and Vernon believes that there is no better incentive to secure the result than a tie against the neighbours.
“I think we can look ahead to the next round as we’re expected to pick up the win.
“The Liverpool game could be an excellent contest as we’ve not played each other for a couple of years.
“We want to play them so there is no better incentive to get the result and progress into the next round.”
