Match Preview: London Genesis vs. Manchester Futsal

by Nathan Linley

After many weeks of postponements and twiddling of thumbs, Manchester Futsal will return to action tomorrow with a trip to the capital to face London Genesis.

The Blues are aiming for a top half finish to end their first National Super League campaign as they find themselves lying sixth in the table, just behind London City who are three points ahead.

With three games left, Manchester will be looking to finish on a high and take maximum points.

Hosts London Genesis have already had their fate sealed this season as they have been relegated down to Division One South, but they will not let Manchester have an easy ride when they arrive at the University of East London for the encounter.

Genesis’ hot talent Claudio Ribiero was unlucky to be on the losing side when these two sides met a couple of months ago and will be hoping to turn the tables when tomorrow comes.

Head Coach Sergi Saldana has not been shying away from his frustrations after the disruption of Manchester’s season, with matches being called off and players having other commitments for this weekend’s game.

“I’m not going to have enough players because Genesis postponed the game that we should have played three weeks ago, but when the game was rescheduled they called it off again and the FA allowed it.”

“My players have already made other commitments to work and courses since this fixture should have happened three weeks ago.  So now I have players away, players that must work and some doing Level 2 coaching courses as well.”

“Not only for this game but we will have the same problems when we play against Salisbury as well, because we had this game rescheduled last week and the FA decided to postpone our match again due to the FA Futsal Cup that weekend.”

“The only ‘positive’ outcome to this is that we are going to have a lot of development players available and it will be a good chance for them to compete at a higher level, and to show me whether or not they can be part of this team in the future”.

The game will get underway at the University of East London tomorrow afternoon at 2:50pm.
